Counselling is a talking therapy. It involves talking and thinking about any difficulties in your life or relationships. It is an opportunity to explore what is troubling you and my aim as a therapist is to help you find some understanding and clarity to achieve your own changes. I will not therefore tell you what to do or offer solutions. You are the expert in you. We can work together to find the best way forward for you.
Everything that we talk about is confidential. There are a couple of safeguarding exceptions to this confidentiality and we can discuss these when we speak.
People seek counselling for many different reasons such as:
- Abuse (emotional/physical/sexual)
- Confidence/self-esteem issues
- Relationship difficulties
- Family problems
- Merging step-families
- Loss or bereavement
- Health issues
- Life events or changes such as divorce, redundancy, menopause or retirement
- Perinatal mental health issues
- Self harm/self injury
- Intrusive thoughts
It may just be that you are feeling unhappy and not living the life that you would wish.
I am experienced in working with a wide range of issues. Some clients find that a few sessions are enough to help them to feel better. Some clients have counselling sessions for several months or even years. I am able to work with you on either a time limited or open ended basis. We can discuss what you think would work best for you.
Sessions are 50 minutes for individuals and 1 hour or 1.5 hours for couples. Appointments usually take place at the same time each week but I understand that this is not always possible and I will try to accommodate shift patterns. Appointments are available Monday to Thursday between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Individual appointments – £50.00
Couples appointments (1 hour) – £65 (1.5 hours) £100
I ask that payment by bank transfer is made in advance of an initial appointment to secure that appointment. Subsequent appointments can either be paid for in advance by bank transfer or at the session by card payment. Please note that I require 48 hours notice of cancellation. Non-attendance without cancellation or sufficient notice will incur a charge.
